Well that's a way to enter a new month. August indeed.
I welcome the definition. Can 2024 be approaching the 2/3 mark??
I know what else is approaching, and wherever you're throwing your support, may I invite you to follow your heart and not the noise.
For me this means taking a deeper look (and listen) beyond the soundbites and "iconic images" and seismic events of these challenging times. Anything being a "no-brainer" for anyone on any side of anything implies exactly that. I intend to use mine for as long as I have it, and important decisions merit careful thought and consideration.
August is one of four months this year that I've consciously chosen to take off from touring. I live on Cape Cod, an amazing place that draws people from all over the world, and sometimes I can overlook that in my enthusiasm to "fill the calendar" and go out and about in search of musical (and otherwise) adventures. Time to wake up and smell the beaches, the bike paths, the beauty.

That said, I get to enjoy others play here at home these next few weeks before heading back to Scotland on September 1st. Here's what's cooking locally:

~ Wednesday August 7th ~ 5 PM
the Snow Library in Orleans presents my old friend and world-class storyteller Len Cabral. Not to be missed. I will be an eager audience member! https://www.snowlibrary.org/calendar-1

~ Thursday, August 15th ~ 10:30AM
My pal Paul Kehoe has co-created a great presentation for kids of all ages (including me) Puppets, Paul, and Mary, again, at the Snow Library in Orleans. I'll be there!

~ Sunday, August 18th ~ 10 AM
My Nashville amigos Karen Taylor-Good and Stowe Dailey are up north to sing at Unity on Cape Cod, where Harold Payne and I just did a concert this past Saturday night. Top-notch music.

~ Tuesday, August 20th ~ 7-9 PM
The Full Moon Open Mic returns at the Chatham Center for the Spiritual Journey, a very cool new location for us in the 19th year of our gatherings...see flyer below! Come join us.

~ Wednesday, August 21st ~ 5 PM
my storytelling/singing hour at the Snow Library in Orleans
67 Main Street ~ free
How does an introverted person get invited to a storytelling series?
I'm told it starts with "Once upon a time..."
There will be guitars (and piano).
