Hi Jersey friends.

I'm so pleased to be returning to the Folk Project's
Troubadour Acoustic Concert Series
in Morristown, NJ on
Friday, March 3rd, 2023 ~ 7:30 PM
I first played there (as the Minstrel Coffeehouse) back in the early 1990's when it was at the Alley Pond Environmental Center, so this is approximately a 30th anniversary since our relationship began.
It surely speaks to appreciation for the volunteers who've kept venues like this open all this time, so I thank Mike Agranoff and all the crew in advance for this cherished opportunity to sing for you once more. Erin Ash Sullivan opens the show.

In the mid 1950's my mom Gloria (New Jersey's 1942 Penmanship Champion ~ and who left us on December 12, 2022) bought a Baldwin/Acrosonic spinet piano for $800 (a ton of money back then). As a very little boy I was watching Liberace on TV at the time and in his flamboyance he often did what's called a glissando, where he'd sweep his right hand up across much of the keyboard, and the sound of all these notes piled on top of one another was thrilling to me.

So I took a penny and tried to do what he did on the new piano...and put a long scratch on 30 of those 88 keys that remains to this day. Mom never punished me for this, and years later she told me why. She was just happy I went to the piano to play it. That's what she'd hoped for when she bought it. I'll play Nights at the Chez in her honor and tell you what happened with the piano before we cleared out her home of 47 years a couple days ago.

Hope to see you there.
